Amazon has a streaming service called Prime Video or Amazon Prime Video or Amazon Prime or whatever they’re calling it now. I don’t know if you know that. How else would you know that? Unless you read your monthly bank statement that says they took money from you if you ever bought a subscription to them. On the one hand, Amazon is wonderful for purchasing products of all kinds. On the other, they really gotta do some work in promoting their streaming service because it has some great content. It was just blind luck that I came across Patriot, a brilliantly surreal and hilarious spy comedy from Steven Conrad, the writer of the Will Smith drama The Pursuit of Happyness (probably the furthest removed from his style), the similarly surreal Nicolas Cage dramedy The Weather Man, and the just as surreal John C. Reilly/Seann William Scott buddy dramedy, The Promotion. Even though I liked those aforementioned movies, I didn’t know what to expect as the trailer didn’t exactly grab me. Neither did the trailers for their other shows. I just wanted to try some Amazon programming and this was the one that seemed relatively interesting to me. What the show accomplishes by the end should make it a must see for people wanting something weirder and more out there in their TV choices.

We’re a month away until the final season of Game of Thrones returns on HBO! Check out our thoughts and reaction to the first Season 8 trailer. The beginning of the end starts on April 14th.

Despite not having revisited it since my initial viewing I have good memories of the first Pacific Rim, it managed to capture the awe-inspiring nature of watching giant robots fight giant monsters. The less than stellar reviews for the sequel had me disheartened, but enough goodwill had carried over and I was willing to give Uprising a shot.
Turns out I probably shouldn’t have.
Molly Ringwald & More Deliver Big Performances & Heart in the Film ‘All These Small Moments’

by Nile Fortner
Molly Ringwald is back with a talented cast that includes 2014’s The Guest star Brendan Meyer, Girls TV show star Jemima Kirke, and director Kevin Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn Smith, in Melissa Miller Costanzo’s directorial debut. Costanzo, who has worked in the art department for such films as The Fighter and Precious, gives us a look at young Howie who has had a rough year. He broke his arm, he along with his brother have to deal with their parents unraveling marriage, and the only thing that keeps Howie going is his love for a mysterious woman.

The 90’s independent film boom was quite a ride as there were so many unique voices that would be hard to replicate. Not only that, a lot of these filmmakers and their works just carried so much swagger to them that you had to impressed by how confident they came across. Many of them seemed to stay with made them work, but Paul Thomas Anderson seems to always want to challenge himself in a way that sets him apart from the pack as he seems to have a tendency to get out of his comfort zone. While I wasn’t crazy about his last movie Inherent Vice, it was still one of those movies that you had to admire for its weirdness even if it doesn’t totally come together. This was in some ways a return to form for him in some ways even if this isn’t a movie I can say that I totally could embrace. When I first saw this in the theater earlier this year, I remember being really impressed by how well made it was, but that’s to be expected from Anderson. This is still apparent on a second viewing. It’s also different and unpredictable in some ways so it had that going for it in addition to excellent performances from Daniel-Day Lewis and Vicky Krieps.

Logan Myerz and Henry Hill travel back to Haddonfield to review the brand new, record-breaking box office debut, Halloween. The film is directed by David Gordon Green.
