Hello, my name is Nile Fortner. I live in South Florida, and I have an Associate’s Degree in Film Studies and I’m currently attending a university looking to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Journalism.

A little about me, I find this hard to write. I love movies, writing, interviewing, stories, art, books, and overall entertainment. I mainly love films, music, and books, because sometimes they do the things we as a society have yet to completely accomplish. Such as, inspire, teach, encourage, relax, connect emotionally/spiritually, bring people together, and simply make us feel good. I mostly enjoy watching movies, television, reading, and being with family and friends. Movies are something very special to me. I loved movies, books, and characters ever since I was a young kid. I remember when I felt like I couldn’t relate to some people, or event in my life. However, movies helped me, I believe some characters, I could relate to. Movies like The Elephant Man, characters like Superman, or Tom from The Glass Menagerie, etc.

As I grew older, my love for movies turned into a love for the art of film. I began to examine them, thinking about the director, the writer, the cinematographer. I tried to get inside their headspace, and discover why they made the film they did. I became entranced with film criticism, writing brief reviews for family, friends, online, local magazine(s)/newspaper(s), clubs, and for my school. I also enjoy doing local interviews for South Florida’s Independent Streak Magazine and other local positions. For instance, I had the joy of interviewing a local actor who was cast as an extra on the hit HBO show Ballers.

I can never name my favorite movie. It’s like name your favorite song, there are literally thousands to choose from! Some of my favorite movies include, The Terminator, Fight Club, Malcolm X, The Dark Knight, Trick ‘r Treat, Do The Right Thing, Amelie, Super, The Mist, The Raid: Redemption, and The Elephant Man. Some of my favorite books include, The Autobiography of Malcolm X, Fight Club, Superman: Doomsday, Carrie, The Mist, Misery, A Clockwork Orange, and The Glass Castle. My favorite television show is American Horror Story, and I like to collect anything Superman, because Superman is my all time favorite superhero!

That’s all I can really say at the moment. I believe I am a good, kindhearted person. I am always trying to get a better understanding of people to get a better understanding of myself.

People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on Earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child — our own two eyes. All is a miracle.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
