’31 Days of Horror’ Review – The Guest (2014)

by Nile Fortner

Terminator Meets Halloween in ‘The Guest’!

Returning from combat operations in Afghanistan, soldier David, visits the family of a dead comrade, and is invited to stay. However, is David everything he claims to be?  So what’s next for the makers of the film ‘You’re Next’? Some fans might expect another horror film from Adam Wingard and screenwriter Simon Barrett. I believe we get more than just another horror film. Imagine if John Carpenter’s ‘Halloween’, ‘The Terminator’, ‘You’re Next’, and ‘Drive’ all found a way to mix up into one bad-ass, bold, and a blast of a movie. We would get 2014’s The Guest!

Review – Mother! (2017)

by Kevin Muller

Forget everything you have seen or heard about this film. Don’t seek out any spoilers or explanations about the film either. This is going be a difficult film to talk about without spoilers, so if I let anything slip, I apologize in advance. Truthfully though you should have already seen Mother! before reading this review because it’s a film worth knowing as little about it as possible before going in. That way you can hate it on your own terms because trust me, this will piss a LOT of people off! But if you’re into weird, creepy stuff like me, you might love it.

Review – IT (2017)

by Kevin Muller

Many people don’t know, but the number 27 and the release of the new film, “IT”, go hand in hand. In the novel, Pennywise, the murderous clown, emerges every 27 years. Secondly, it has been 27 years since the television adaptation of the novel where Tim Curry played Pennywise was released. Finally, the new Pennywise, played by Bill Skarsgard, is 27 as the new film drops. All these are interesting and cool coincidences, but does the new adaptation of the famous Stephen King novel succeed? It has advantages that the television movie didn’t have: production value, gore, and the ability for the characters to talk like real thirteen year olds, who drop swear words like they are going out of style.
