With Bottle Rocket being a critical hit, it only made sense for another studio like Touchstone Pictures to come calling and give Wes Anderson the skills to become the filmmaker that he is today. Due to its larger budget and higher profile, it’s no doubt that Rushmore is truly a Wes Anderson movie. I remember it being the movie that introduced me to Wes Anderson. Because of his unique style, no movie was like it at the time to me. Not to mention that it stood out from many other high school movies of its time such as Can’t Hardly Wait or American Pie. He knows how to use his style to create an immersive world that’s so meticulously detailed that he’s able to flesh out the characters and the story in a more convenient and subtle way than other filmmakers would probably do. Watching it now was somewhat unexpected. While I don’t think I can tout it as the masterpiece I once did, it was still an entertaining movie.
I’m not sure how this review is gonna go down because a large part of me is still trying to decipher this film. After Get Out, I was very much looking forward to more of what Peele had to bring to the horror circuit and Us looked like another winner. My initial thoughts though were good, but flawed, and yet after doing some reading I’m slowly coming around to the film. I still think that Jordan Peele is one of the most interesting voices to come out of modern horror and he’s got plenty more to say, but Us might cause a bit of rift when people talk about him.

Alita: Battle Angel is a project that has been in development for over twenty years. It was supposed to be the follow up film for James Cameron immediately following Titanic. Then, Cameron got deep into the world of Pandora with his characters from his hugely successful Avatar film, which he’s currently making four back to back sequels that will be released over the next ten years. Enter Robert Rodriguez, who has directed Desperado, Sin City, and the Spy Kids movies, to take on the long awaited project.
We reviewed Alita: Battle Angel, that’s directed by Robert Rodriguez and produced by James Cameron, based on a manga series by Yukito Kishiro.
