Celebrate ‘The Lost Boys’ 30th Anniversary with the Sequel Comic!
It’s the 30th Anniversary of the vampire cult-classic film, The Lost Boys, and Vertigo is celebrating with the release of a new sequel comic collected edition! THE LOST BOYS is the comic sequel to the nostalgic ‘80s thriller, marking the return of the Frog and Emerson brothers. The town of Santa Clara has long been a haven to an unruly threat—a group of vampires busy feasting on the locals. As the brothers take on a whole new group of undead bloodsuckers—the Blood Belles—they’ll soon find help in the form of a shirtless sax man, aka the Believer (if you can believe it). The comic trade is available next Wednesday 8/9, in comic stores, and available everywhere books are sold Tuesday, 8/15.
Review – Bad Genius (2017) Fantasia International Film Festival!
On Day 4 of the Fantasia Festival, I had one screening in the afternoon. This film tempted me very much after reading about it and watching the trailer. And it seems I was not the only one to be interested because it was the first of two sold out screenings (ed.: they’ve now added a third screening). A guy even offered me $40 for my ticket that I paid $9 for while I was waiting in the line to enter the theater! This was the Canadian Premiere of the Thai film Bad Genius (Chalard Games Goeng or Chalat Kem Kong, the latter of which is, apparently, the transliteration of it’s original title ฉลาดเกมส์โกง in Thai script).

Syfy Films today announces the release of the upcoming sci-fi film REALIVE, in theaters on September 29 and on VOD and Digital HD on October 3. The film is written and directed by Mateo Gil (“Vanilla Sky,” “The Sea Inside”). The cast includes Tom Hughes (“About Time,” “London Town”), Charlotte Le Bon (“The Walk,” “The Hundred-Foot Journey”), Oona Chaplin (“Taboo,” “Game of Thrones”) and Barry Ward (“The Fall,” “The Journey,”). REALIVE premiered at the 2016 Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal followed by official selections of the FrightFest Film Festival in the U.K. and Sitges International Film Festival in Spain.
Review – Killing Ground (2017) Edinburgh Film Festival
I’m gonna take some cues from Walter White and tread lightly on this review, part of what makes Killing Ground so great is how it utilizes a unique narrative technique in order to tell its story. In doing so, allow itself to hit some really disturbing and sickening moments that other horror films wouldn’t go near. This is gonna be a must for genre fans, but go in blind to get the full effect of what the film wants to put you through.
