To say Jordon Peele’s star has risen, would be an understatement.  In the span of four years, he has gone from a hilarious sketch comic to one of the most reliable talents in Hollywood. Even though his projects still contain the humor that we love him for, he also injects a lot of social commentary into his films about the black experience. Now, he has brought back the old horror classic, Candyman, to the big screen in what is considered a sequel and NOT a remake. Does he breathe new life into the project or was this a property he should’ve left alone?

LETO (2019) – Interview with Michael and Lily Idov

It’s officially the first day of Summer and there’s no better way to celebrate the hottest season of the year than watching the new film Leto. The films title which is Russian for “summer,” tackles a rock ‘n’ roll daydream based on the early days of the famous Soviet-Korean musician Viktor Tsoi, his musician friend Mike Naumenko, and Mike’s wife Natalia. This creates a somewhat complex music love triangle between the three individuals that adds substance to the early 80’s Soviet music scene. The black and white frames used in the film is painted beautifully to describe youth, rebellion, freedom, love, and the oppression that was occurring at that time in the Soviet Union.

Review – The Big Sick (2017)

There is a saying that goes, “write what you know.” This advice is given to writers who try too hard to change the world with a unique idea. While a unique idea is great, sometimes it fails hard when it is overly complicated or not expanded upon to really give it a proper representation. The Big Sick takes this advice and creates something incredibly heartfelt and funny. Romantic comedies are a dime a dozen and this one is definitely one that sticks out among the pack.
