Review – Blade Runner 2049 (2017)

Trying to talk about Blade Runner 2049 without giving away any of the reveals is going to be difficult because somehow the marketing for this film has managed to keep a lot under wraps. To the point where I’m honestly surprised with how little they were able to show in the promotional material. I’ll try my best to keep things spoiler free, but at this point you already know if you want to see this or not. Either you’re a fan of the first film and are looking to see if this expands upon the world Ridley Scott built 35 years earlier, which it does. Or you’re not a fan of the first film, but want to see if a modern update can improve upon the legacy Scott left behind, which it arguably does.

Review -La La Land

What more can you say about “La La Land” that already hasn’t been said?  They say it is a masterpiece of a movie that is about ambition, dreams, and hope, all set against original music and beautiful dancing.  They say Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling have one of a kind chemistry and are also individually incredible.  Yes, a lot has been said about this film and most of it is true.

Review – The Nice Guys (2016)

Shane Black might not have invented the R-Rated Buddy Comedy, but he definitely perfected it, being the brainchild behind Lethal WeaponThe Long Kiss Goodnight and his own directorial debut, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. After a brief stint in the Marvel Machine, Black is back to what he does best with The Nice Guys, a film as seedy, profane and hilarious as its lead characters and – from the way the box office is looking –  a firm contender for Most Under-appreciated Film of 2016.
