Review – Deadpool 2 (2018)

by Old King Clancy

WARNING – I will have to discuss a pretty big spoiler that occurs in the first act, I would try to avoid it, but it factors into the film quite heavily. It’s within the first 10-15 minutes, so it’s not too big but here’s the warning anyway.

Looking back at the history of the first Deadpool and how long it took to actually get made I forgave it for some of its shortcomings, namely in that while it was a good comedy, it lacked a strong story to make it good film overall. As such it doesn’t hold up as well on revisits, but is still a funny movie, by comparison Deadpool 2 has a much stronger narrative as well a much more impressive action set-pieces. Ironically, it’s the jokes that come up short. Maybe now living in a world where films like Logan and Infinity War have changed the comic-book movie landscape, the immaturity of Deadpool doesn’t sit as well with me, or maybe I’m just a pretentious ass who can’t have any fun.

Let’s find out.

Review – Everything Sucks! (2018)

By Armando Vanegas

I don’t usually review TV shows, but I wanted to try something different and Netflix’s Everything Sucks! was something that really stuck with me, so much that I was inspired to write about it and hopefully those of you who read this might want to give it a shot. Everything Sucks!, in a lot of ways, is the show that the trailer sells you with its very 90’s aesthetic, due to the fact that it’s set in 1996. It’s evident in the first two episodes, which are also its weakest. However, they do a good job setting up for the tone, the characters, and the story. But once it figures itself out, it becomes quite an engaging and charming show. The show is about a group of high school kids in Boring, Oregon and how they’re dealing with growing up.

Review – Zootopia (2016)

Looking Back at ZOOTOPIA

by Nile Fortner

Disney has 80 years of experience making animated films, so saying that Disney has made another family film is not anything noteworthy. It is what we have come to expect. While best known for their musicals, princesses, and prince charming, Disney animation has been on a roll as of late with animated movies with a message. For instance, the Academy Award-winning Big Hero 6 and Wreck-It Ralph. However, Zootopia is not simply another fun Disney animated movie, it is one of the greatest Disney animated movies I have seen in the last ten years.
