Is This Sci-fi Film Recycling Other Sci-fi Films?

‘Life’ is science fiction thriller, starring Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Southpaw), Ryan Reynolds (Safe House, Deadpool), and Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, The Girl on the Train). No, this movie isn’t a remake or re-imagining of the 1999 Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence movie of the same name. So don’t expect to see Murphy fighting over some cornbread in space or anything like that.But you can expect to see six astronauts that aboard a space station, and they discover something we’ve all been wondering since the dawn of human history. They discover new life, they discover life in a galaxy far far away, they discover extraterrestrial life on Mars.

These members of the space station name this new life force, Calvin. As these astronauts conduct research on Calvin, gather data, and all that science mumbo jumbo. They realize Calvin is evolving rapidly, gaining strength, and learning at a very alarming rate. It turns out Calvin’s life may be more intelligent and terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.  If this movie feels familiar, it just might be. Many people saw this trailer, and said to themselves, “Why are you reenacting the script of ‘Aliens’?” While watching this movie, just from the trailer alone, you feel a vibe of other science fiction films you’ve seen before.

C2E2 will be in Chicago from April 21st-23rd!!

Today ReedPOP, the world’s premier producer of pop culture events, unveiled this year’s Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) show poster.

Created by artist Declan Shalvey – known for his work on Image Comics’ Injection with Warren Ellis and Marvel’s Deadpool – the poster is a unique take on Marvel’s ALL-NEW GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY leaping into action against a view of Chicago’s Michigan Avenue at night(shown below).

 

C2E2 takes place April 21-23 at Chicago’s McCormick Place and tickets are on sale now. This year’s event features blockbuster talent including, the stars of Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo and Finn Wolfhard, Jon Bernthal from Daredevil, Mike Colter from Luke Cage, The Walking Dead’s Michael Cudlitz, Avenger’s creator Stan lee and more, with additional guests to be announced.

“AMERICAN GODS” DEBUTS NEW TRAILER!

“American Gods” posits a different kind of war brewing—one between Old Gods and New.  The traditional Old Gods, with mythological roots from around the world, fear irrelevance as their believers die off or are seduced by the money, technology, and celebrity offered by the New Gods. Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is an ex-con who, left adrift by the recent death of his wife, becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to conman Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane). But in truth, Mr. Wednesday is a powerful old deity, on a cross-country mission to build an army and reclaim his lost glory.

 

American Gods premieres  April 30th on the Starz network.

 

ATOMICA LA Special Screening on March 8th!

Syfy Films held a special screening of ATOMICA on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the iPic Theaters in Westwood, CA. Following the screening, there was a private reception held at The Tuck Room Tavern.
ATOMICA will be available in select Theaters on March 17th and VOD and Digital HD on March 21st.

The unbound wanderer is a romanticized figure symbolizing freedom from the shackles of social norms and suffocating relationships, guided only by pride. Usually male, he’s a timeless archetype in American culture, but the best way to understand his journey for purpose is through film. Westerns (John Wayne’s “Rooster Cogburn”), wilderness epics (Robert Redford’s “Jeremiah Johnson”), and psychodramas (Edward Norton’s narrator in Fight Club) elevate this figure to mythic proportions. But Drifter, directed by Chris von Hoffmann, avoids falling cliche and gives audiences a fresh perspective on a classic narrative.
