Cinephellas Flashback: Logan’s Interview with Bruce Campbell

As we’re sure you’re aware, Ash Vs. Evil Dead recently began its second season. We’re all huge fans of Mr. Campbell’s work, and we thought it would be appropriate to revisit Logan’s unpublished-on-Cinephellas interview with the legend himself.

When you hear “Hail To The King” you may think Heisenberg or even Elvis Presley, but there is one answer….Bruce Fucking Campbell. He is the one go-to actor that stays true to his craft and perfects many roles that can be viewed throughout film and TV over the past thirty years. I have had the opportunity to meet him numerous times at various Comic Cons and Horror conventions, but never had the chance to pick his brain one-on-one. As you could imagine when you talk to one of your biggest influences, it’s hard to keep your composure, and not look like a total “She-bitch.”

If you have been locked up the past year, then you probably haven’t heard of the return of Ash Williams on the Starz network in the show, Ash Vs. Evil Dead. But if you are like me, you have been patiently awaiting the return of Ash and all those horrid and grotesque deadites. Ash is probably one of the most iconic characters in horror till this day and it’s a huge deal that a character at this caliber is returning in a TV show.

I had the opportunity to view the first episode of the second season of Ash Vs. Evil Dead and it was nothing short of groovyyyy.  This is a series that doesn’t “play it safe,” and is splattered with gore and violence that goes straight for the jugular in the opening minutes of the episode “Home.”

Today, I got the pleasure to talk to Bruce Campbell about producing and starring in the Starz show, Ash Vs. Evil Dead, his previous Evil Dead films, and the craziness that has ensued over the past thirty years.

Ash Vs. Evil Dead returns Sunday on Starz!

image006

This week on “Ash vs Evil Dead” it’s the homecoming he didn’t see coming! Ash and his team return to his hometown of Elk Grove, Michigan in the season two premiere.

The party in Jacksonville is over when Ash, Pablo, and Kelly are summoned by Ruby back to Ash’s hometown to form an unlikely alliance. Ash’s dad Brock, and the local pub rats give a chilly welcome to the man who’s come to save them from evil.

We’re excited to see Bruce Campbell doing what he does best!

Check out FOUND FOOTAGE 3D!

When he’s hired to document the behind-the-scenes action of the ultra low-budget horror movie Spectre of Death (“the first 3D found-footage horror film”), an aspiring filmmaker packs up his camera and travels with the film’s crew to a creepy cabin in the woods. But when the fictional evil presence from their film begins appearing in his behind-the-scenes footage, he has to figure out how to stop it, or it just may find its way into the real world. In the same way that Scream deconstructed the slasher sub-genre in the 1990s, FF3D takes a found-footage horror movie and populates it with people who are aware of all of the rules, tricks, and clichés of the genre. They know how to make a found footage movie. But do they know how to survive one?
Found Footage 3D is produced by Kim Henkel, co-creator of the original classic, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, one of the most widely influential horror films ever made. Filmed in Gonzales, TX, the film stars Carter Roy (RefugeStuck in the Middle), Alena von Stroheim (Hacker’s Game, The Activist), Chris O’Brien (Alpha House), Tom Saporito (Off Campus), Scott Allen Perry, Jessica Perrin, and Scott Weinberg.
The film will celebrate its World Premiere at Bruce Campbell’s Horror Film Festival in Chicago on August 20th, and will also have its International Premiere at FrightFest in London on August 29th.

Today, the Festival announced highlights of the groovy lineup, sponsored by Shudder and Bloody-Disgusting.com, featuring the critically acclaimed opening night nail-biter Don’t Breathe, directed by Fede Alvarez; a salute to genre hero Fred Dekker; an epic event featuring comedian Doug Benson; and a 25th anniversary celebration of the most excellent sequel, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey  (originally titled Bill & Ted Go To Hell).
