Review – Valley Girl (2020)

by Kevin Muller

Jessica Rothe has stated in many interviews that singing in the 2016 film La La Land was a thrill.  Before that film, the actress, who is theater trained, was only known for her acting ability, including the one that put her on the map, 2017’s Happy Death Day.  In La La Land, she was one of Emma Stone’ roommates who urged her to join them in a night out on the town, through the song “Somewhere in the Crowd.” This, along with her rising popularity, was enough for producers to get behind the idea of providing her with a starring role in a musical.
