Review – The Art of Self Defense (2019): Fantasia International Film Festival!

Back for its 23rd edition, running from July 11th to August 1st, the Fantasia International Film Festival returns to Concordia University in downtown Montreal. To kick off my own 11th participation, I selected the Quebec Premiere of the US dark comedy The Art of Self-Defense. It was an advanced screening in a way because the film comes out on July 12th in the USA but only on July 19th in Canadian theaters. The Art of Self-Defense had its World Premiere at SXSW back in March to seemingly great reviews.

Rob Zombie’s sequel ‘3 FROM HELL’ Three-Night Event September 16-18th !

Global content leader Lionsgate and Saban Films are unleashing horror icon and heavy metal mastermind Rob Zombie’s 3 From Hell, the follow-up to House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, as the next chapter in the blood-soaked crime saga. The film will be released in nearly 900 select movie theaters on September 16, 17 and 18, 2019 through Fathom’s Digital Broadcast Network (DBN). Fathom Events will broadcast the unrated version to theaters with each night featuring unique bonus content.

LETO (2019) – Interview with Michael and Lily Idov

It’s officially the first day of Summer and there’s no better way to celebrate the hottest season of the year than watching the new film Leto. The films title which is Russian for “summer,” tackles a rock ‘n’ roll daydream based on the early days of the famous Soviet-Korean musician Viktor Tsoi, his musician friend Mike Naumenko, and Mike’s wife Natalia. This creates a somewhat complex music love triangle between the three individuals that adds substance to the early 80’s Soviet music scene. The black and white frames used in the film is painted beautifully to describe youth, rebellion, freedom, love, and the oppression that was occurring at that time in the Soviet Union.
