Tom Hardy in 2018s ‘Venom’ – A Superhero Film in the Wrong Place at the Wrong Time

The Marvel comic book villain known as Venom first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man comics 30 years ago and now the villain a.k.a anti-hero hits the big screen in his very own movie. Audiences and fans haven’t seen the Venom character in a film since That ’70s Show actor Topher Grace portrayed him in Sam Raimi’s 2007s Spider-Man 3. Venom felt like an afterthought in Spider-Man 3, which left a sour taste in mind for some fans. I am a huge fan of the character Spider-Man and I’ve grown up with the character. Such as growing up with Sam Raimi’s trilogy and being an avid reader of the character in the comics to this day. I also grew up with superhero films like Ang Lee’s 2003 film Hulk and Halle Berry’s 2004 Catwoman. The 90s and early 2000s were a time when a large portion of superhero films used the popularity of a character to make a profit and they cared very little about the source material, comics, and even the fans. Tom Hardy in 2018s Venom feels like a superhero movie from the early 2000s and it’s a superhero film in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Sony Pictures have released the second Venom trailer starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. The trailer premiered at the recent San Diego Comic Con and will be released on October 5th.

HBO has today confirmed July debut dates for their upcoming limited series The Night Of, and the new series Vice Principals. The Night Of will premiere Sunday, July 10 at 9:00pm ET/PTand Vice Principals will debut Sunday, July 17 at 10:00pm ET/PT.
VICE PRINCIPALS kicks off its nine-episode season SUNDAY, JULY 17 (10:30-11:00 p.m.). Created by Danny McBride and Jody Hill, who also created “Eastbound & Down,” this dark comedy series tells the story of a high school and the two people who almost run it, the vice principals. McBride and Walton Goggins star as the two administrators, who are in an epic power struggle, vying for the top spot: to be school principal. THE NIGHT OF, an eight-part limited series created by Steven Zaillian and Richard Price, debuts SUNDAY, JULY 10 (9:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT), followed by other hour-long episodes debuting subsequent Sundays at the same time. Starring John Turturro and Riz Ahmed, and directed by Zaillian from teleplays by Price and Zaillian, THE NIGHT OF delves into the intricacies of a complex New York City murder case with cultural and political overtones.
