by Nile Fortner

Is This What Happens When You Get High While Watching ‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs’?

Life is good for all the food items that occupy the shelves at the local supermarket. Frank, played by comedian stoner Seth Rogen (known for Knocked Up and Pineapple Express) is a hot dog, Brenda, played by Kristen Wiig (known for Bridesmaids and the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel) is the hot dog bun, Teresa Taco, played by Salma Hayek(known for Frida and Everly) and Sammy Bagel Jr. played by Edward Norton (known for Fight Club and American History X) can’t wait to go home with a happy customer, because they see human beings as Gods.

Entanglement (2018) – Interview with Jason Filiatrault

Jason Filiatrault Talks Physics, Thomas Middleditch, and Entanglement

By Christopher M. Rzigalinski

Consider the circumstances that led to this moment. You’re in front of a screen, reading the words I wrote. One difference in either of our lives could have prevented this moment from happening. We’ve hurdled along almost infinite combinations of pathways just to get here. Was it a conscious trip, or were we guided by quantum entanglement?

Review – Lady Bird (2017)

by Old King Clancy

As divisive and overused Rotten Tomatoes has become in the recent year, it’s hard to ignore Lady Bird beating the record for most positive reviews to remain at 100% (164 positives beating Toy Story 3’s previous record of 163). While it since has dropped to 99%, it’s still only at 1 Rotten score with 213 Fresh reviews in its favor. With that level of acclaim is worth taking note of, so I figured I’d give it a shot and see what it had to offer. And while not the best film of the year, it can definitely stand out as one of 2017’s strongest offerings with career highlights from Greta Gerwig and Saoirse Ronan.

’31 Days of Horror’ Review – Maniac (2012)

Frodo’s Gone Homicidal in ‘MANIAC’

by Nile Fortner

A socially awkward serial killer (Elijah Wood) removes the scalps’ of women and attaches them to his mannequins, to bring a new life to them.

A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Last House on the Left, The Amityville Horror, Cabin Fever, and The Wicker Man are all classic horror films. On the other hand, I believe these classic horror films have not been remade into classic remakes. Many remakes fail to capture the energy, wisdom, and likeness of the original. It is very difficult to capture lightning in a bottle twice, especially with horror movies. Many directors, producers, and writers of horror all tend to follow the same format, and end up being predictable, bland, and lifeless nowadays. However, director Franck Khalfoun (‘P2’ and ‘High Tension’) brings some new life into a cult classic, a new direction, and in my opinion a better film. I believe that Maniac (2012) is a rare exception of the remake actually being better than the original.

Cinephellas Podcast – Episode 23 (Interview with Rachel Belofsky)

Screamfest 2017: An Interview with Rachel Belofsy

by Logan Myerz

What does it take to be an artist? Is it the passion you put into your craft or is it the countless hours perfecting your craft? These are questions I ask myself everyday by researching, writing, reviewing, and creating videos on the Cinephellas website. Being a film-maker isn’t as easy as it looks and getting the film showcased in the industry isn’t an overnight process. The horror film genre is one that is easily overlooked for its creativity, chilling story-line, and jump scares. The Academy has not taken too kindly to the horror genre and it seems many great films are snubbed come Oscar Season. But does it really matter? With many film festivals today, there are movies awarded for the Best Feature, Directing, Cinematography, as they should be for the distinguished film-making skills. What I appreciate about this genre of film making is the blood, sweat, and tears put into every shot of the movie. More importantly, it’s not about making money or the fame, rather it’s about the art-form and making a piece that is memorable.
