Drive it like you stole it, and ride with John Carney to Sing Street!

When you have a conversation with someone about movies in 2016, what do you hear? Do you hear the obvious major blockbusters? All the movies with over a year of hype? Do you discuss the good and not so good? In 2016, I have had conversations with family and friends about such films as, Captain America: Civil War, Suicide Squad, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Moonlight, Swiss Army Man, The Nice Guys, and what a majority of people were discussing and debating about, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Despite how you may feel about these films, one film I believe people are not discussing enough or even realizing is Sing Street. I don’t know about you, but I have not had any conversations and or clue about Sing Street. Overall, people really didn’t seem to talk or care about it. Which is really a shame, because Sing Street should without a doubt definitely be one of the top 2016 films everyone should be talking about and viewing.

Review – Under the Skin

by Nile Fortner

In the film Under the Skin, Laura, played by Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers, Don Jon) is an extraterrestrial, who disguises as a woman of Earth. Who drives around Scotland, capturing unsuspecting men. With this type of plot, many of us would assume a great horror film. However, we get a great mixture of an artistic direction, science fiction, fantasy, drama, and themes throughout this film.

Review – Yoga Hosers

Now when I first saw the trailer to Kevin Smith’s (Clerks, Dogma) Yoga Hosers I was a little surprised. Now for those who have not seen the trailer for this film, and are asking yourself “What the Hell are some Yoga Hosers?” The trailer focuses on the two Canadian girls from Smith’s last film, Tusk, who work at a convenience store, and encounter Nazi sausages. Seriously. When I saw the trailer, my immediate instinct reaction was “What the fuck?” It wasn’t that what the fuck with anger, it wasn’t what the fuck with confusion, it really was just a simple what the fuck.

Netflix has been on the role with shows like Jessica Jones, and Daredevil, but ever since the trailer for Luke Cage came out, the general reaction was nothing but joy. Now I know I may be late to the party, because a huge majority of people already seen the whole series. On the other hand, I took my time to watch it and enjoy it. Now if you have been sleeping on Marvel and or Luke Cage, you need to certainly wake up! Netflix’s Season one of Marvel’s Luke Cage is one of the best things Netflix has done!

Review – Westworld

westworldbar-1

by Old King Clancy

“These violent delights have violent ends.”

HBO has generally been a solid channel for quality programming, so when the news came that they were remaking Michael Crichton’s original theme park disaster movie Westworld into a TV series, the news was welcome. The original Westworld had strong concepts but lacked the maturity and technical advancement to pull it off correctly, it was exactly the type of film that was meant to be remade and with A.I. becoming closer and closer to reality, the timing of the series – as well as some help from an unbelievable cast and backing from J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan – ensured it to be a sure-fire hit. And you know what, it damn well was.

EXCLUSIVE: Chris chats with Tom Hopper!

kill_ratio

The nation’s slow recovery from the 2016 Presidential Election has reminded us about the deep divisions in the United States. But the election and its preceding campaign gave me many thought-provoking conversations with friends, family, and colleagues. One such conversation came with Tom Hopper, star of the new action thriller Kill Ratio.

Kill Ratio is a departure for the English actor, best known for his roles in the the drama Black Sails and the fantasy-adventure Merlin. In the Paul Danter-directed Kill Ratio, Tom takes on the role of James Henderson, a lone wolf protecting a small European country from a military coup as it transitions to a democratic government. Four days before the election, Tom and I discussed the importance of democratic government, his personal political journey, and how he just can’t stop sword fighting. He even clued me in on a new passion project close to his heart. I was captivated by Tom’s insight and wit. I hope you will be, too.

EXCLUSIVE: Logan chats with horror legend Bill Moseley!

It’s rare these days to find a talented actor that has been in the movie industry for over thirty years and still stabbing his way through the horror genre, sort of speak. If you have lived in a bubble and never experienced any cult films such as House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects, Repo! The Genetic Opera, and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, then you have NOT lived! I have been an avid convention attendee since 2006 and have had the pleasure of speaking/running into Bill Moseley many times over the years, including in the men’s bathroom. From the characters in his films, you would think Mr. Moseley is a nut job waiting to snap, but he’s the complete opposite. He is a down to earth fellow that is also a music composer, character actor, and dedicated man to film making.

I had the chance to catch up with one of my favorite actors that also grew up in the Chicagoland area and talk about his newest role in The Possession Experiment.
